Background
The Albuquerque International Sunport, the City of Albuquerque, and the New Mexico Film Office sought to create an eye-catching and exciting new interactive experience for guests traveling to and from Albuquerque. Their goal was to highlight the diverse history of film in New Mexico and reveal to visitors just how many famous productions are played out against the background of the state’s scenic vistas. We created a custom software experience housed in a one-of-a-kind custom-fabricated kiosk that visitors to the Sunport can browse upon entering the terminal.
Implementation
The kiosk houses an immersive 75” display showcasing locations and a 43” touch display that allows visitors to control the experience. LED lights pulse and flow organically to paint the surrounding wall and catch travelers’ eyes. Additional accents include topographic elements that evoke our state’s diverse rolling geography.
Custom software for the kiosk invites travelers to explore information about productions across the state, see behind-the-scenes photography, and even watch trailers on the big screen. Visitors can also explore by location, jumping to a city or scenic locale and browsing information about the productions that were brought to life there. A custom-engraved map of the state atop an embedded LED panel in the kiosk illuminates specific filming locations.
The experience is also supported by a custom-built, robust content management system so that the experience can be updated regularly as New Mexico continues to serve as the backdrop for many more productions to come.
We were thrilled to have the opportunity to work with our local city and state agencies to raise awareness for the creative work being done in the New Mexico film industry. See you in the movies!
